The NTS®-SZ is a high-quality breakaway coupling that ensures non-destructive, safe separation. The reliable cable system has been tested and proven in numerous industrial applications for over 30 years, supporting its unique technological sophistication. Reassembly following separation is accomplished quickly, easily and without the need for any additional spare parts. It has a maximum range of activation of 360°, while its triggering mechanism is independent of process system pressure.
Frequently, hazardous situations arise during refueling operations due to an unintentional impact on the line. This can occur for a variety of reasons, such as the sudden departure of a tanker connected to the coupling. Therefore, it is recommended to provide the line with an NTS emergency disconnect safety system from ARTA.

If an unintentional impact on the line where the NTS®-SZ is installed occurs, the two coupling halves will separate in a controlled manner and their valves will immediately close on both sides. No spillage of potentially dangerous transported material will occur, and the safety of the user will be ensured.

Non-destructive separation

The design of the NTS®-SZ provides safe, direct separation. The coupling components are not destroyed, thereby ensuring a long service life for the NTS. Furthermore, the separation mechanism permits spill-free retention of the transported media in both coupling halves. Thanks to its innovative separation mechanism, there will be no impact on the environment, nor additional material costs.

A simple device is used to pull together separated coupling halves. Since separation is non-destructive, the Breakaway Coupling is easily reassembled and downtime is minimal.

Maximum Flow

The flow-optimized design of the NTS®-SZ was created using the finite element method (FEM), validated by flow tests. The results demonstrate that pressure loss is minimal, even when the breakaway coupling is at maximum delivery flow.

Patented trigger mechanism with fully flexible 360° range of activation

The special release mechanism prevents tensile force between a vehicle, the NTS and the remainder of the system. This guarantees secure separation, even under adverse conditions. Because of the separating mechanism’s 360° activation range of the separating mechanism, the trigger is essentially independent of the direction from which a tensile force is exerted on the system, and the highperformance trigger mechanism of the NTS®-SZ remains unaffected by line pressure.

Fully verified by international certification entities

The NTS®-SZ is a globally recognized safety coupling that has been certified by recognized international approval entities. For this reason, no reservations exist about its employment in various safety-related applications.
ARTA Breakaway Couplings are employed for liquid, gaseous or solid material in discharge and suction lines. Their usage on pipe loading systems and hose lines is perfect for tanker ships and trucks, loading stations and hose stations, among others.

Ideally, they should be combined with an ASK Dry Break or quick coupling from ARTA.
